Sadhana Sargam was an established Bollywood playback singer in 90's and early 2000's. She is known as melody queen for her harmonious voice. Sadhana Sargam was born in Dabhol, Ratnagiri in the state of Maharashtra, India. Her singing career has surpassed three decades now. She was one of the most prolific female Bollywood singers in the 90's alongwith Kavita Krishnamurthy and Anuradha Paudwal.

Her mother Neela Ghanekar was a classical singer and music teacher. Sadhana Sargam got inspiration from her mother to come to music industry.

Sargam first performed at a music festival at the age of 4.

Then, she sang popular song 'Sooraj Ek Chanda Ek Taare Anek' for Doordarshan at the age 6. 

She started her Bollywood career in mid 80's. Besides film music, she has sung devotional songs, Classical music, Ghazals, regional film songs and pop albums. She has won five Maharashtra State Film awards and four Gujarat State Film Awards. She is the only playback singer from India who currently sings in 27 regional languages. She holds a record for being the first non South Indian to have won the National Award for South Indian song.

Her first Hindi song was the solo 'Door Nahin Rehna' from the film Rustom. The movie was delayed and released in 1985. Hence, Sargam’s first released film was Subhash Ghai’s Vidhaata (1982) in which she sang the song "Saat Saheliyan" for actress Padmini Kolhapure, the song was composed by Kalyanji-Anandji.  

Sadhana Sargam has worked with contemporary all notable music directors like A.R Rahman, Bappi Lahiri, Nadeem- Shravan, Anu Malik, Kalyanji-Anandji, Jatin-Lalit, Dilip Sen-Sameer Sen, Anand-Milind, Laxmikant - Pyarelal etc.
